Youth Dream Alliance
Empowering Youth, Transforming Communities
Who We Are
Youth Dream Alliance (YDA) is a passionate and grassroots civil society organization (CSO) that
emerged from a community’s struggle to create space for young people especially those from
marginalized and deprived backgrounds. We are dedicated to youth empowerment and sustainable
development across Sindh, with a focus on education, health, climate change, water, sanitation, hygiene
(WASH), Disaster Risk Reduction and livelihoods.
Our journey began in UC Berani,
Taluka Jam Nawaz Ali, District
Sanghar, where socio- cultural
barriers and exclusion limited
youth especially girls from
participating in development
processes. But through
perseverance, dialogue, and
dedication, since its beginning,
YDA has evolved into a powerful
symbol of inclusion, resilience,
and transformative change
fostering equitable opportunities and driving sustainable impact within the communities it serves.
Our Origin Story
In 2021, the Civil Society Support Program (CSSP) initiated the Power to the Youth project to empower
and engage young people across remote areas of District Sanghar. Through a series of structured
consultations held in multiple villages, the initiative sought to foster youth mobilization and
participation. However, in Union Council (UC) Berani, the formation of inclusive youth groups emerged
as a significant challenge, underscoring deep rooted social, structural, and cultural barriers.
The barriers to forming inclusive youth groups included the following:
- Cultural restrictions: Women and girls from Baloch communities faced traditional norms that
severely limited their participation in public life and community engagement. - Fear and marginalization among minority sharecroppers: Sharecroppers, particularly from
minority groups working on landlords’ lands, were reluctant to participate due to longstanding
experiences of social exclusion and fear of reprisal. - Resistance to inclusion efforts: Efforts to engage marginalized and deprived communities were
actively resisted in certain areas, with some attempts met by hostility — including instances of
physical removal from villages.
Despite these setbacks, a devoted group of young leaders under the leadership of Mr. Bhurio, CEO of the Youth Dream Alliance remained faithful in their commitment. Working collaboratively with CSSP field teams, they conducted awareness sessions on different components such as: Climate Change, WASH & Hygiene, Heatstroke, Socio-psycho support and shared global best practices in youth empowerment and engaged in sustained dialogue with local communities. Through their persistence and inclusive approach, they gradually built trust and encouraged greater acceptance among previously resistant groups.
Over time, even individuals and groups who initially resisted YDA’s vision particularly members of the
Baloch and minority communities not only embraced the initiative but emerged as some of its most
active participants, with notable engagement from women. Building on this inclusive, community
driven foundation, the Youth Dream Alliance (YDA) was formally established and subsequently
registered under the Societies Act. The organization’s office set up built in Bhitai Farm, Berani Taluka
Jam Nawaz Ali, through a deliberated partnership with CSSP’s Rozgar Center initiative, providing a
dedicated space for continued youth empowerment and community development efforts.

Our Achievements and Success Story:
Youth Dream Alliance (YDA) a structured and professional platform for sustained community-
driven youth empowerment. During the devastating floods of 2022, YDA mobilized Rs. 2.8 million despite limited financial resources. The funds were strategically allocated to implement critical relief interventions across six Union Councils: Jamjani, Berani, Chorasi Jamrao, Bhiro, Tilashah, and Jam Nawaz Ali. Key activities included the installation of six hand pumps, the construction of six accessible latrines for persons with
disabilities, the distribution of 220 Non-Food Item (NFI) kits, and the provision of 265 food packages
to affected households.
YDA also established and managed a temporary settlement for flood-affected families in Taluka Jam
Nawaz Ali, providing 43 tents and benefiting 288 families. The team organized daily meal services, preparing four large cooking pots of rice with potatoes each day for 30 consecutive days. Recognizing the long-term impact of the disaster, YDA launched a Women’s Empowerment and Skills Development Program. This initiative provided awareness sessions and skill-based training to 25 widows and 25 poor women. To foster sustainable income generation, 50 sewing machines were distributed among the trained women.
In support of education continuity, YDA established 12 Learning and Education Centers, enrolling 380 female and 100 male students. To ensure quality education delivery, 24 teachers were employed with a monthly salary of Rs. 12,000. The centers were equipped with essential learning materials, furniture, and medical care kits to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Additionally, YDA conducted a comprehensive damage assessment for 390 flood-affected families and launched an environmental recovery initiative by establishing a Morenga nursery with 14,000 plants, which were subsequently planted across Taluka Jam Nawaz Ali to support nutrition, livelihoods, and ecosystem restoration.
YDA identified and provided targeted support to 112 persons with disabilities, including children
and the elderly. The organization also conducted awareness sessions across six Union Councils,
focusing on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), climate change adaptation, and community leadership.
Under its Community Mobilization and Local Governance efforts, YDA facilitated the formation of 14
village committees comprising 300 members. To support early recovery, YDA implemented a cash-for- work program benefiting 165 individuals, each receiving Rs. 17,500 for 25 days of community-based labor. The organization also improved access to safe drinking water by testing 19 water samples in collaboration with Tando Jam University and provided ongoing rescue and documentation support. At the Union Council level, YDA conducted rescue operations for vulnerable groups, including children, elderly men, and women, during the flood emergency. The team organized food distribution and established a safe shelter within emergency zones.
Furthermore, YDA assisted over 1,690 individuals in Taluka Jam Nawaz Ali in obtaining new Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) through NADRA, helping restore their access to essential services and legal identity.
In response to public health needs, YDA conducted 12 heatstroke awareness sessions and facilitated
10 mobile medical camps during disease outbreaks, providing treatment and preventive care for
illnesses such as diarrhea and skin infections.
